Looking at the history of TCCC and CLS training and quailifications through the military and police forces this training becomes more and more necessary, valuable in our modern world struggles.

Combat medical personnel in the U.S. military (and those of most of our coalition partners) are now trained to manage combat trauma on the battlefield using the Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC) guidelines.

Those guidelines setting a standard and a certain basis for first responders is necessary so that every single soldier will get the same traininig and knowledge to handle the situation and will do what has to be done to save the life of injured comrades.

If you are in the police or in the military forces, it doesn’t change anything the only difference is the theatre of operations.

If you are in need of CLS / TCCC you can not wait until the medic personal arrives otherwise the wounded soldier or police agent will be dead before help gets there.

For that purpose only the TCCC and CLS guidelines are setting the standard in traininig where normal soldiers or police officers get trained in subjects as: arresting the bleeding, resolving the pneumothorax, managing the airway, medical evacuation and to manage painkillers if needed.

But remember IFAK are for personal use and therefore they should all have the same configuration.

Fo that purpose there is a minimum of equipement that should be in the IFAK to be able to handle the single injures.

Equipement is as follows:

•	Rubber gloves
•	Cisors
•	Nasopharingeal
•	Quick clot
•	Decompression Needle
•	ACS
•	Tourniquet
•	Israeli bandage
•	Pain medication

(This is the basic IFAK content ) Afterwards everybody can adjust and add as needed.

This standard of IFAK goes through all NATO forces and police agencies.

Train as you fight and fight as you train

References:
TCCC Guidelines 2013
http://www.naemt.org/Files/TCCC/041114/TCCC%20Guidelines_131028.pdf

US Army CLS guidelines
http://www.me.ngb.army.mil/units/rti/resources/IS0871_Edition_C_ALMS.pdf

WENGLER Patrick
Reality Based Personal Protection Director of Luxemburg
CLS certified, US.
